Time: February 29, 2012 at 8:30:00 AM
Location: The Institute of Human Services at 6666 CR 11, Bath, NY 14810-7722
Description:

On February 29, 2012 the Institute of Human Services and the Steuben Rural Health Network will be hosting two workshops focused on caring for your infant or toddler.  Both workshops will be presented by experts from the Steuben Child Care Project.  Registration is open to anyone interested in attending one or both presentations at no cost to the participants.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.

Registration will start at 8:30.   At 9:00am Kellie Lockwood and Jerine Faber will present Learning to Dance with Your Infant and Toddler by Providing “Responsive Caregiving”.  This workshop will address the importance of building strong, nurturing relationships with your infant and toddler, which will influence the developing brain for future learning and socialization.  Participants will understand what the Responsive Care Process is and how to implement it, how to implement practices that support positive social and emotional experiences, and how to utilize the Steuben Child Care Project for resources and technical assistance.

There will then be a break from 12:00-1:30pm for participants attending both workshops to leave and have lunch on their own.  At 1:30pm there will be a second sign in and registration for participants only attending the second workshop.

At 2:00pm Bonnie Taggart and Aimee VanLeuvan will conduct the Cavity Free Kids, Oral Health Education for Pregnant Women, Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers.  This workshop will address the importance of oral healthcare and how to start healthy oral habits very early in life.  The workshop will be 90 minutes long and will result in an understanding of the importance of oral health in pregnant women, infants, and toddlers; why baby teeth are important; and how cavities are caused and how to prevent them.

For more information about these workshops or to register please contact the Steuben Rural Health Network at 607.776.9467 ext. 229.
